Year 2 Assessment (SATs)

In the academic year 2023- 2024 these became non-statutory for schools.

Key Information:

In Year 2, at the end of Key Stage 1, children are assessed in reading, writing and maths using a range of tests, tasks and teacher judgements. These take place throughout the month of May. The outcomes of teacher assessments are share with parents/carers in the Summer Term as part of their annual report.

We will be using past SATs papers to help us inform teacher assessment. These will be carried out like any other assessment opportunity. Teachers try not to cause the children any undue anxiety and refer to them as 'quizzes' rather than tests. A lot of work in class and their weekly homework has already prepared them for this.

Below is a useful guide for parents about SATs.
