Welcome back to an exciting new year at Paulton Infant School. A huge welcome to our new Reception children who begin to come into school on the 10th of September and all joining the school in Year 1 and 2. This also includes new staff: Mrs Perry in Year 2 and Miss Long in Year 1. Miss Abbott is now Mrs Harding following her wedding this summer. Congratulations Mrs Harding!
Our new build is now almost complete giving us an extra three new beautifully designed, airy and spacious classrooms for our Year 2 children, a massively increased hall space for PE, Games, Assemblies, after school clubs and concerts. The final work will be carried out in the next two weeks giving us full access to the outside area.
This new build also includes a brand new state-of-the-art semi -production kitchen. This new kitchen will allow food that doesn’t travel well, to be prepared on the premises.
A new cook , Mrs Tracey Brown, has been appointed who, along with our existing team of Jo Gentle, Di Gass and Sharon Mears will work with us , not only to provide nutritious well-balanced meals, but also ensure that lunchtimes are a relaxed and enjoyable experience for all children. They have already been working very hard alongside our great team of lunchtime assistants to give us a great start to the school year. We do have a named lunchtime assistant for each class plus extra support at lunchtimes. To view the staff please go to our staff pages.
From September 2014 ALL children at Paulton Infant School will be eligible for Free School Meals which could save you approximately £400 a year but also, according to research, ensure that your child concentrates better and works harder during afternoon sessions.
We will still be doing dinner registers as we have before so children will need to know whether they are having a dinner or sandwiches. From next Monday, the first full week of term we would like families to send in their requirements on Monday to book the meals. Attached here are some slips that could be used to do this as well as the current menu:
We understand the menu will be revised from the 22nd of September and will send out copies of this nearer the time.
There is still a requirement for us to know who is eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) as it gives school access to further funding to support children. As an added incentive new additions to the FSM register will be offered one term of swimming lessons at no cost.If you need a form or information about this please call into the school office.
I look forward to working with you all over the next term.
Mrs C. Butcher
