Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, I would like to wish you all a ‘Happy New Year!’ I hope you enjoyed the Christmas break and that 2015 brings you happiness, good health, peace and success.

I am delighted and incredibly proud to be writing this letter to you as the new Head Teacher of Paulton Infant School. I have already met many of the children and have been impressed by their enthusiasm for learning, their good behaviour and lovely manners; they are a real credit to you. I am now looking forward to meeting you and will be around at the start and end of the day over the coming weeks, so please do come and say hello. I am looking forward to working in partnership with the children, staff, governors and you as the parent community in order to continue to develop Paulton Infants as an exciting, happy and successful place to learn.

I thought it may be helpful to give you a brief introduction to me. I live in South Gloucestershire and am a very proud mum of two grown up children.  When I have a few spare minutes I enjoy walking, climbing, reading, food (cooking and eating) and painting. My new year’s resolutions are to keep up with running to enable me to run a ‘Race for Life’ 10k in July and to learn a new language.

I have worked for 27 years in the primary sector in a range of local authorities as teacher, Deputy Head Teacher, Acting Head Teacher and Assistant Principal, but this will be my first permanent headship and I am very excited to have earned the opportunity to do this at Paulton Infants. I am a dedicated and resilient leader and believe the best results come from a strong team who support each other to achieve the aims of the school. I am passionate about securing the best outcomes for the children and families I serve and look forward to us all working together for this.

As a leader, I believe that the needs of the children should be at the heart of all decisions made and that the children should be provided with exciting, creative and meaningful learning experiences to build their enthusiasm for education. Our school community should be one of positive values and mutual respect and I have already seen this demonstrated by staff, children and governors during visits to Paulton Infants during term two. Over the coming term my aim is to get to know you – the parents/carers, the children, staff and governors. This will help me to understand the views of the community on the school’s existing strengths, which will allow me to further build on these and take our school forward.

I would like to thank Mrs Butcher and the staff of Paulton Infants, the children and governors for making me so welcome on my visits and look forward to further developing the great work that has already been carried out.

Kind regards,

Julie Hogan
