No Outsiders' Vision: Inclusive education, promoting community cohesion to prepare young people and adults for life as global citizens.

As a school, we have adopted the ‘No Outsiders’ approach to promoting inclusion and equality in our school.

Through a selection of age appropriate texts and termly assemblies, we encourage children to consider a range of characteristics and celebrate differences. “Everyone different; everyone welcome.”

All the books we use are carefully selected for infant school children. You can see each key text and the learning intention in our No Outsiders book overview shared here.

In story times and PSED lessons, we will continue to read a diverse range of texts that represent the broad society in which we live.

You can find out more about No Outsiders on their website https://no-outsiders.com/ Some of this content applies more to Key Stage 2 children. Everything we deliver is specifically selected as appropriate for our EYFS and Key Stage 1 children.

Assemblies

Here you can get an idea of the content of our termly assemblies.

2025-2026

Term 1 2025 - A re-introduction to 'No Outsiders - Everyone Different, Everyone Welcome.' We re-read the story 'We Are All Different' from Twinkl. We talked about our upcoming No Outsiders dress up day and read the short story 'Hippo has a Hat' by Julia Donaldson to help us think about different tastes in clothes.

Term 2 2025 - Thinking about neurodiversity. As well as looking different from each other we have different brains. We read the story 'Cloud Boy' by Greg Stobbs. This is about Bobby whose mind works in its own special way.

2024-2025

Term 2 2024 - An Introduction to 'No Outsiders - Everyone Different, Everyone Welcome.' We read the story 'We Are All Different' from Twinkl.

Term 3 2025 - We can be friends with people who are different to us. We read the book 'Can We Be Friends' by Erica Sirotich. This is all about animals from different species that have made friends.

Term 4 2025 - Not everybody looks the same as us. We read the book 'The Abilities in Me: Limb Difference' by Gemma Keir. We watched a video of a teenager who built his own prosthetic arm out of lego.

Term 5 2025 - Challenging stereotypes about boys and girls. We read 'Pink is for Boys' by Robb Pearlman and saw that all colours are for boys AND girls. We then thought about toys, hobbies and jobs and that these are for all people.

Term 6 2025 - We never laugh at people's names. We read 'Chrysanthemum' by Kevin Henkes.
