Welcome from your Governing Body
If you’re not already aware, behind the scenes of Paulton Infant School is a Governing body, made up of a mixture of staff, parents and other members of our local community. The governing body has a range of duties and powers and a general responsibility for the conduct of the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement. We are not involved in the operational day-to-day running of the school - this is down to Headteacher, Julie Hogan and the leadership team, but we are charged with the task of working with the Julie and her team to:
1. Set the vision and strategic direction of school
2. Hold the headteacher to account for its educational performance
3. Ensuring financial resources are well spent.
School governors are one of the country's largest voluntary groups with around 300,000 contributing to strategic development and raising standards of achievement at more than 30,000 schools. High quality Governance is crucial to children’s education and life chances, holding Heads and schools to account and securing the future of the school.
Governors give up their time freely to be part of the Governing Body and therefore they should make sure that this time is invested productively.
If you feel you could bring something to our Governing Body, please do not hesitate to call into the school office to discuss the role.
Full Governing Body will meet 3 times a year in Terms 1, 3 and 5 with Final Budget Approval Meeting in Term 5 with Extra-ordinary Meetings as required by circumstances.
We do not currently have vacancies for Governors. If you feel you would like to become a Governor, please download an Application Form .
