OPAL Play Project
Welcome to the OPAL page!
OPAL stands for ‘outdoor play and learning’ and it is a programme we have purchased to enhance play at Paulton Infant School.

Children learn when they are playing. As 20% of time in school is timetabled ‘play time’, we wanted to make sure that this amount of time (equivalent to 1.4 years of primary school) is as rich an experience as we can make it.

We believe quality play means happier children. Happier children mean an increase in well-being, self-esteem and resilience, fewer behaviour problems, a more positive attitude to school, more effective lessons, better core skills development, less staff time spent resolving unnecessary problems, fewer accidents and a happier school.

Please see our play policy for more information.

We also buy in a Scrapstore Playpod and have great fun at play times. Please do look at the Outdoor Play and Learning website for more information.
